Jesus - Our Passover Lamb

Passover Seder - Highlights🍷🫓🌿🥚
🐑Jesus is our Passover Lamb (1 Cor 5:7), and He celebrated the Passover with His disciples: (Matt 26:20, Mark 14:17, Luke 22:14, 1 Cor 11:17). Often we abbreviate this as “communion”, but there’s much more to this feast (1 of 8 Biblical annual feasts of the Lord).

🍷Four Cups: Represent God's multi-faceted promises of redemption (Ex 6:6-7), ultimately fulfilled in Yeshua the Messiah (Jesus Christ).

1. Cup of Sanctification. In Jesus, we are set apart for our Father God’s use as “vessels unto honor”. (Rom 9, 2 Tim 2:20-21, Ep 2:10, Is 29:16, Is 45:9, Is 64:8, Jer 18)

2. Cup of Deliverance. In Jesus, we are delivered from bondage / slavery to sin and death. (Rom 8)

3. Cup of Redemption. In Jesus, we are redeemed from anything not of faith, hope, and love. (2 Tim 2:21)

4. Cup of Acceptance / Praise (Covenant): He spreads His garment over us like a kinsman redeemer (Boaz in book of Ruth). He is head of the church, His bride. (Col 1:18, Eph 5:23)

5. Cup of Wrath: Jesus drank this cup for us (we do not drink of this) by His sacrifice, taking our sins on Himself. This cup will also bring ultimate justice and final eternal judgement in favor of His people, final eternal punishment on the wicked, and abolishing sin and death forever. (1 Cor 15:54, Rev 5)

🫓Matzah (Unleavened Bread): Symbolizes the haste of the Exodus. God’s deliverance came so fast they did not have time to add yeast / leaven and let their bread rise. It symbolizes Yeshua's sinless body, broken for us (1 Cor 5:7-8). Yeast can also symbolize the hypocrisy of the Pharisees / Herod, but in Jesus there is none of this yeast. He is full of grace and truth (He is the truth and love) with total purity and sincerity; zero hypocrisy.

🔥Maror (Bitter Herbs like horseradish on the cracker): Reminds us of the bitterness of slavery and sin, which Yeshua bore on the cross. (Acts 8:18-24)

🍯Charoset (Sweet Mixture of honey on the cracker): Represents the mortar of slavery but also the sweetness of redemption found in Messiah. During Pharaoh's first refusal to let the Hebrews go, he also made it more difficult for them by withholding straw yet demanded the same brick making quota each day (Ex 5:6). On our way to deliverance, we may face increasing opposition! But "if God is for us, who can be against us?" Rom 8:31

🌿Karpas (Parsley dipped in Salt Water): Bitter tears mixed with hope and new life through Yeshua. Sometimes our discipline / sanctification / obedience is like this, but those tears will turn to joy, just as Jesus rose from the dead. “And if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit, who lives in you.” Rom 8:11

🍖Zeroa (Shankbone): Traditionally the Passover lamb sacrifice. For believers / Messianic Jews, it points to Yeshua, the ultimate Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world (Is 53:7, John 1:29, 1 Pet 1:19, Heb 9:14, Rev 5:6, 1 Cor 5:7).

🥚Beitza (Roasted Egg): Symbolizes mourning over sin and the brokenness of the world, yet also new life and resurrection, ultimately fulfilled in Yeshua's rising from the dead. "unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a seed. But if it dies, it bears much fruit." John 12:24 "The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. The Scripture does not say, “and to seeds,” meaning many, but “and to your seed,” meaning One, who is Christ." Gal 3:16

🛁Mikveh: water basin of washing. Reminiscent of Jesus “having loved his own who were in the world, He loved them until the end”, washed the disciples’ feet John 13. We dipped our fingers and touched the following:

🧠Cleanse my mind that my thoughts would be Your thoughts. "...but we have the mind of Christ" 1 Cor 2:16

🫀Cleanse my heart, that my desires would be Yours, that I would want what You want. "I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will remove your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh." Ez 36:26

🙌Cleanse my hands, that I would do what You have for me to do. "3Who may ascend the hill of the LORD? Who may stand in His holy place? 4He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to an idol or swear deceitfully." Ps 24

👣Cleanse my feet, that I would walk in Your ways. "When Jesus had washed their feet and put on His outer garments, He reclined with them again and asked, “Do you know what I have done for you?" John 13:12

“Washing of the water by the word” Eph 5:26

“You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you.” John 15:3

The Passover / Seder prophetically illustrates our deliverance from bondage by the ultimate redemption found in Yeshua (Jesus Christ), who is our Passover Lamb! 1 Cor 5:7 🐑🔥❤️🔥🙏
