Moreover, you shall accept no ransom for the life of a murderer, who is guilty of death, but he shall be put to death.
For the LORD your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great, mighty, and awesome God, showing no partiality and accepting no bribe.
Do not deny justice or show partiality. Do not accept a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and twists the words of the righteous.

Instead, the greatest among you should be like the youngest, and the one who leads like the one who serves. 27For who is greater, the one who reclines at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who reclines? But I am among you as one who serves.

who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked,
or set foot on the path of sinners,
or sit in the seat of mockers.
/ But his delight is in the Law of the LORD,
and on His law he meditates day and night.
/ He is like a tree planted by streams of water,
yielding its fruit in season,
whose leaf does not wither,
and who prospers in all he does.
/ Not so the wicked!
For they are like chaff driven off by the wind.
/ Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.

but the way of the wicked will perish.

The sinners in Zion are afraid;
trembling grips the ungodly:
“Who of us can dwell with a consuming fire?
Who of us can dwell with everlasting flames?”
/ He who walks righteously
and speaks with sincerity,
who refuses gain from extortion,
whose hand never takes a bribe,
who stops his ears against murderous plots
and shuts his eyes tightly against evil—
/ he will dwell on the heights;
the mountain fortress will be his refuge;
his food will be provided
and his water assured.
/ our eyes will see the King in His beauty
and behold a land that stretches afar.
/ Your mind will ponder the former terror:
“Where is he who tallies? Where is he who weighs?
Where is he who counts the towers?”
/ You will no longer see the insolent,
a people whose speech is unintelligible,
who stammer in a language you cannot understand.

When you fast, do not be somber like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces to show men they are fasting. Truly I tell you, they already have their full reward. / But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, / so that your fasting will not be obvious to men, but only to your Father, who is unseen. And your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
/ Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. / But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. / For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
/ The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light. / But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!
